Ferrari's Most Recent One-Off Is A Retro-Inspired BR20

Like many of its predecessors, the BR20 is a modern automobile based on a legendary Maranello hero, and Ferrari has unveiled it as the latest Special Projects creation. The GTC4 Lusso is the donor vehicle, a V12-powered four-seater with a bread-van back end that was recently discontinued.

However, with the BR20, Ferrari's creative team changed the clunky shooting-brake back with a graceful fastback tail influenced by Ferrari's massively powerful GTs from the late 1950s and early 1960s, such as the 410 Superamerica and 500 Superfast.

Ferrari
The BR20's retroelements are far more subtle than those of Eric Clapton's one-off SP12 EC, a 458 modified to look like a legendary Berlinetta Boxer he once drove. Since Daytona, this is undoubtedly the best-looking Ferrari front-engined car.

Ferrari

The BR20 has smaller headlights that don't run as far up the fenders as the regular GTC4Lusso, a wider air inlet, and narrow DRLs that tone down the Lusso's insane grin. When examined from the side, the distinctive form of the sills, which flow into the chrome fender component beneath the Ferrari shield, obviously gives the car an astonishing look.

Ferrari
The significant modifications, though, come on the back end, where the revised sloping tail mimics the design of early Ferrari GTs while also evoking more current cars like the 599 GTB. A pair of 20-inch wheels made specifically for this project completes the look.

Aside from some lovely dark leather detailing, the interior of the BR20 hasn't changed much. However, a glance backward reveals that the rear seats have vanished, replaced with an appealing luggage area that's semi-open to the trunk space and decorated in leather, wood, and carbon fiber.

Ferrari

There are no mechanical alterations mentioned, so we assume this one-off retains the normal GTC4Lusso's naturally aspirated 681-hp V12 and all-wheel-drive hardware. Unfortunately, Ferrari hasn't revealed who ordered the car or what the "BR" stands for.
