Ferrari could win Le Mans

Creating the new turbo V6 engines of 1.6-liter in Formula 1 for the next season determined the Ferrari Company to think about the opportunity to participate at the 24 Hours Race of Le Mans at the most important class competition-LMP1 Prototype class.

The Scuderia motivation is that this class used engines identical to those that will be introduced in Formula 1 next year; this is the reason why the budget for the development of such prototype would not be great. That is why the plan is that Ferrari returns to LMP1 class from Le Mans in 2015, the final decision will be taken during this year, taking into account the German Auto Motor und Sport publication.

Besides this reason, Ferrari could be motivated in such a participation that has the level of competition higher compared to Formula 1, because it would have to confront manufacturers such as Audi, Toyota and Porsche, which intend to return to the competition the next year.

You can affirm that Formula 1 has always been the Queen of motorsport (namely the most important sports car in the world), and you will be completely right, solely that in Formula 1, Mercedes is the only manufacturer who has factory team, while,  Renault and Honda from 2015, are present only as the suppliers of engines.

In order to be beyond all doubts regarding this news for the automotive world, we cannot miss the fact that Ferrari is one of the most successful manufacturers in the LMP1 class of Le Mans, the Italians enrolling in race won two times, thus the last victory they won with Ferrari 250LM was in the 1965 edition, when they counted on Masten Gregory's and Jochen Rindt services. The last participation of this Ferrari class (with a factory team) is dating since 1973.
