Farewell to Diesel: Jeep Gladiator FarOut Final Edition Marks the End of an Era

As the Jeep Gladiator with European specifications concluded production in the last quarter of 3023, the automaker bid farewell to the diesel truck era on the Old Continent with the introduction of the FarOut Final Edition.

In contrast to the American-spec FarOut, which is based on the Gladiator Rubicon, the European counterpart shares its name but is based on the Overland trim. Exterior changes are minimal, featuring a sleek black finish for the 18-inch granite crystal aluminum wheels and a metallic "FarOut Edition" plaque adorning the tailgate. Just like the Overland, this truck comes equipped with LED lights, a three-piece hardtop, and a protective Spray-In Bedliner.

Inside the final edition, you'll find premium McKinley leather upholstery for the heated seats, a comprehensive range of Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS), and an Alpine audio system with nine speakers. Additionally, there's an array of optional add-ons available, including an off-road camera, a roll-up tonneau cover, a lockable rear under-seat storage compartment, and a 400W inverter / 230V AC outlet combo.

Under the hood lies a robust 3.0-liter V6 diesel engine, churning out 260 HP and a substantial 442 lb-ft of torque. Power is channeled to all four wheels via the TorqueFlite 8-speed automatic transmission and Jeep's 4×4 Selec-Trac system, complete with a two-speed transfer case and low-range gear ratio.

The Jeep Gladiator FarOut Final Edition is already available for online purchase, with a price tag of $83,154 USD. The American-spec Gladiator FarOut was limited to 1000 units and started at $71,790 USD.

Jeep introduced the Gladiator to the European market in 2021, marking its return to the pickup segment. Unfortunately, it is set to bid adieu to the region. The company cites its "roadmap to going fully electric" as the reason for this decision. However, it's clear that stringent emissions regulations in the EU and sluggish pickup sales have also played a role. Notably, the Gladiator is the only non-electrified option in Jeep's current lineup.

Jeep is gearing up for an electrifying future, with three new all-electric vehicles slated to debut by 2025, alongside the already available petite Avenger SUV in Europe. This push is part of the brand's ambitious goal to predominantly offer EVs in Europe by the end of 2030.
