Elon Musk Drove Up The Price Of Tesla's Self-Driving Kit From $10,000 To $12,000

There is little doubt that Tesla's Full Self-Driving package (FSD) is a common pick for owners, despite the $10,000 price tag. However, Tesla CEO Elon Musk has revealed that the bundle would now cost $12,000, an increase of $2,000 from the original price.

The news was made via a tweet, and it specifies the $2,000 price hike, and it will go into force on January 17, and that it would only affect users in the United States. 

Probably, this is all in line with Musk's previous statements that the price of FSD will rise as additional features were introduced. For all those unfamiliar, there are 6 stages of vehicle autonomy ranging from 0 to 5, with 0 being a totally unsupported automobile with just minimal driving aids such as ABS and traction control and 5 being a fully autonomous vehicle without a driver, pedals, or steering wheel. 

Currently, Tesla has informed government authorities that FSD is only at Level 2 autonomy. Having said that, Musk has stated that Tesla might achieve Level 4 autonomy as early as 2022. In contrast, firms like Mercedes and Honda, which began working on autonomous vehicles long after Tesla, have already received Level 3 permission.
