After Tesla’s move with the electric Model 3 demo police car, Skoda comes with its own version of an emergency-services car. Please meet Enyaq iV battery-EV crossover, which will hit the Great Britain streets in July 2021.

Enyaq, followed by Octavia iV and Superb iV, will get the blue-light treatment, which will help the emergency services function more sustainably, with performances at least as good as the internal-combustion cars.

There is 360-degree lighting, integrated emergency services systems, an EMS communication platform, and of course, the touchscreen.

First Enyaq iV cars will come with rear-wheel drive, in 60 and 80 kWh battery versions. The first will provide 310 Nm of torque and 179 hp, while the latter will preserve the same torque figures, but will provide 204 hp. Both cars reach the first 100 km/h in less than 9 seconds.

One of the most important things is that the Skoda fleet needs to be available at any time of day or night, which directly has a saying on the charging time. The 80 version will charge up to 80% in 38 minutes, providing autonomy of 533 km.

The cars may come with 125 kW DC chargers for fast charging. Or they may not. If they don’t, then the charging time for the 80 version with the 7Kw home AC charger will reach 9.5 hours.

The servicing costs are definitely reduced, a perk common for all-electric cars. The loading capacity reaches 585 liters, just enough to carry life-saving equipment.

Skoda has its own dedicated line-up for emergency services, being appreciated worldwide. Besides the preconfigured models, there is also Skoda Octavia Scout, available exclusively to the blue-light UK services.
