Dacia Sandrider: Rally-Born Dominance at Geneva Motor Show

The Dacia Sandrider stormed the 2024 Geneva Motor Show ahead of its desert debut in the legendary Dakar Rally. This carbon-fiber beast, inspired by the Manifesto concept and built by the pros at Prodrive, is all about no-nonsense off-roading. Increased capability, improved aerodynamics – think of it as a supercharged Dacia, born for rough terrain.

They even stayed true to the concept's minimalist vibe – barely-there bodywork, a modular dashboard you can tweak. That kind of attention to detail saves the Sandrider an extra 33 pounds!

Weight is shifted slightly towards the front for killer traction in the sand. Under the hood? A twin-turbocharged 3.0-liter V6 pumps out 360 horsepower and 400 lb-ft of torque to both axles, channeled through a six-speed sequential gearbox. Sweet!

The Sandrider's rally experience even shaped the details. Think dashboard paint that cuts down on sun glare, and a magnetic strip on the body to hold wheel nuts while you change a tire in the heat of the race.

Even the paint job helps – special pigments reflect infrared light, keeping the cabin cooler.
