Cooper Celebrates 60 Years With A New MINI Anniversary Edition

MINI is offering a special Anniversary Edition to honor 60 years of cooperation with the Cooper family.

The model, which is based on the three-door hatchback and pays respect to John Cooper, who deceased in 2000, was revealed in September to coincide with Cooper's 60th anniversary.

The special edition is available in British Racing Green, Midnight Black, or Rebel Green exterior colors, with contrasting White and Piano Black details. Hood stripes and “74” marking on the doors memorialize the number worn by the original model when it won its maiden race. 18-inch alloy wheels are also standard.

Designers chose Dinamica / leather sport seats, an anthracite headliner, and a Nappa leather sports steering wheel with Cooper badging for the interior. Piano Black trim, red highlights, stainless steel pedals, and John, Mike, and Charlie Cooper's signatures are among the finishing touches.

There will be a total of 740 units produced worldwide, but no news on how many will be sold in the United States or how much they will cost. They will, however, come with recognizable powertrains, such as a 1.5-liter turbocharged three-cylinder with 134 hp (100 kW / 136 PS) and 162 lb-ft (219 Nm) of torque. 

Cooper S comes with a turbo 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine that produces 189 hp (141 kW / 192 PS) and torque of 206 lb-ft (279 Nm). Finally, there's the JCW, which features an enhanced version of the aforementioned engine with 228 hp (170 kW / 231 PS) and torque of 235 lb-ft (318 Nm).
