Alfa Romeo Introduces Giulia and Stelvio GT Junior Special Editions

Alfa Romeo has unveiled new Giulia and Stelvio special editions. In addition to the "6C Villa d'Este" model, the Italian automaker is now introducing the limited-edition "GT Junior" models, which take their design cues from the magnificent Alfa Romeo GT 1300 Junior of the 1960s.

The striking Lipari Ochre exterior color is a reference to the GT 1300 Junior seen in Milan with the Giulia and Stelvio. On the other hand, the Giulia GT Junior has a different multi-spoke 19-inch wheel design than the Stelvio GT Junior.

The black badges on the fenders indicate that both vehicles are based on the Veloce trim. Internally, Alfa Romeo designers emblazoned the GT 1300 Junior's shape on the console, as well as GT Junior writing on the dash and headrests. Carbon-style accents and aluminum side sill steps complement the black leather seating.

The 2.0 turbo petrol motor has 276 hp (206 kW / 280 PS), whereas the 2.2 turbodiesel four-cylinder has 207 hp (154 kW / 210 PS). Both motors are only available with an eight-speed automatic transmission. The Q4 four-wheel-drive technology sends power to all four wheels, although the Giulia is also offered in the rear-wheel-drive guise.

The GT 1300 Junior, for those unfamiliar with Alfa Romeo's history, was an entry-level two-door coupe built on the Giulia Sprint GT. It was constructed between 1966 and 1976, and over 100,000 units were sold.

An extremely evocative 1.3-liter twin-cam four-cylinder motor generated 89 hp (66 kW / 90 PS) and 115 Nm (85 lb-ft) of torque under the attractive Bertone-designed body. Despite the engine's tiny capacity, Alfa Romeo Giulia GT 1300 Junior delivered a great result for its class, as well as excellent driving qualities.
