Chevy Bandit Truck Isn't Just for Showing Off

In the 1970s, Burt Reynolds was a popular figure thanks to "Smokey and the Bandit," in which the hero drove a quick coupe to distract the authorities from the alcohol being delivered in the back of a truck. Legendary Concepts, located in Texas, has joined forces with Saleen to create a Bandit Truck that allows the 'bandits' to handle their own transporting. 

The Bandit Truck, which was introduced at SEMA this week, is built on a Chevrolet Silverado Crew Cab and is inspired by Burt Reynolds' legendary black and gold 1977 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am, but it has over 500 horsepower more.

With a wide-arch bodykit that incorporates redesigned fenders, grille, and unique 22-inch basket-weave type wheels dressed in Toyo Proxes ST III rubber, the Legendary Concepts vehicle stands out from a standard Silverado. A blueprinted 5.3-liter V8 with a Magnaflow exhaust system develops 707 hp and 641 lb-ft with the assistance of a Magnuson DI supercharger, which compares well to the modest 200 hp a new Trans Am scraped out back in 1977.

Prices have not yet been announced, but the first Bandit Truck vehicles are expected to be delivered in January 2022.
