Chevrolet Beast: A 650 HP Silverado-Based Off-Roader

Chevrolet Beast is a living example of what Chevy Trucks and Chevrolet Performance Components are capable of, built on the platform of a short-bed Silverado and driven by a supercharged 650 hp (659 PS/485 kW) LT4 crate motor.

Designers began with a short-bed Silverado and adapted the platform for desert racing. The frame was reduced and a 4130 Chromoly tubular safety structure was added. A revolutionary long-travel off-road suspension system designed for this vehicle keeps it all comfy off-road. Chevrolet Beast has a five-link rear suspension and a 91-inch track, which improve steering and agility.

With the 6.2-liter supercharged V8 motor, a 10-speed automatic gearbox is used to deliver power to a two-speed transfer case. Off-road tires measuring 37 inches cover 20-inch Beadlock wheels. The engineers then added a lightweight body to the mix, which was intended to be as compact as possible on the chassis.

When off-roading, the team achieved maximum approach and departure angles because there were almost no overhangs. Chevrolet Beast does, however, have a set of spare tires installed in the bed, which is left exposed to avoid dust accumulation.

Likewise, the bespoke cab includes a clean, practical design with four Recaro performance seating with four-point harnesses and a pair of seven-inch LCD panels that monitor vehicle operations and performance statistics.
Chevrolet will also display several pickups, as well as the SuperMatic 6L80-E 4WD Gearbox, which is geared for off-road project car developers.

The six-speed automatic gearbox has the same 650 lb-ft (881 Nm) torque rating as the RWD 6L80-E gearbox and is built exclusively for 4WD usage. It's also compatible with LS crate motors thanks to the brand's Connect & Cruise Crate Powertrain System. From November 2 to 5, all will be on display on the SEMA show floor at the Las Vegas Convention Center.
