BYD vs Tesla: Why The Chinese Giant Could Lead Global EV Sales In 2025
by AutoExpert | 29 December, 2025
BYD is becoming a global leader in electric cars, and this could happen as early as 2025. The Asian brand is likely to pass Tesla, the company that has dominated this sector in recent years.
The official numbers for the whole year haven't been released yet, but the available data show that BYD sold over 2 million electric vehicles between January and November, more precisely 2,066,002 units. The steady rate of deliveries indicates a very successful end to the year for the Chinese manufacturer.

At the same time, Tesla reported sales of about 1,217,902 electric cars in the first nine months of the year. The American manufacturer hasn't released its results for the last quarter yet, but industry experts estimate that around 1.65 million units were delivered for the year.
The growing gap between the two companies shows how fast the global electric car market is changing. Chinese manufacturers are becoming more successful in this market. They are selling more cars and have more types of cars to choose from. If this trend continues, 2025 could be a big year for the global electric vehicle (EV) industry.
