BYD has just unveiled an updated version of the Han in China, and it's packing more tech, better underpinnings, and a slightly lower starting price. This electrified sedan first hit the scene in 2020, got a facelift in 2022, and now we're seeing its second major refresh.

On the style front, the biggest change is that the BYD Han DM-i (the plug-in hybrid version) now looks identical to its all-electric counterpart, making the lineup look more unified. While the overall body design hasn't changed much, they've introduced a new Fashion Gray color and a Black Sports package for those wanting a sportier vibe.

Plus, if you look closely, you'll spot a roof-mounted LiDAR sensor, hinting at upgraded advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS). Inside, there's a new 15.6-inch infotainment touchscreen with higher resolution. The cabin feels premium with Nappa leather seats combined with real aluminum and wood accents. You can opt for front seats that offer 10-point massaging, heating, and ventilation—talk about traveling in comfort! And for the audiophiles, there's a 775-watt, 12-speaker Dynaudio sound system.

The BYD DiPilot 300 system enhances safety by utilizing 31 sensors, including LiDAR, and an Nvidia Orin-X chip to incorporate AI. The chassis gets an upgrade too, featuring a new five-link rear suspension and variable damping technology for a smoother ride. The sedan measures 4,975 mm (195.9 inches) in length and still offers both PHEV and EV powertrains. The PHEV version gets the improved fifth-generation DM-i system, pairing a single electric motor with a turbocharged 1.5-liter gas engine. Combined, they produce 416 hp letting you go from 0-62 mph in 6.9 seconds.

The battery alone gives you an electric range of 125 km (78 miles), and combined with the gas engine, you can cover up to 1,350 km (839 miles). The all-electric Han now features an 800V BYD Blade battery (up from 400V), allowing for faster DC charging. BYD says you can add 160 km (99 miles) of range in just 10 minutes of charging. Depending on the model, the EV offers a range of 506 km (314 miles), 605 km (376 miles), or 701 km (436 miles) according to the CTLC standard.

Under the hood, the single electric motor comes in three power levels: 201 hp (150 kW), 225 hp (168 kW), or 241 hp (180 kW), all driving the front wheels. Interestingly, BYD claims that no matter which power output or battery pack you choose, every version of the Han EV accelerates from 0-100 km/h (0-62 mph) in 7.9 seconds. The 2025 BYD Han is already available for order in China. The PHEV models are priced between ¥165,800 and ¥225,800 ($23,284–$31,711), while the EV versions range from ¥179,800 to ¥235,800 ($25,251–$33,116). Despite all the new bells and whistles, the starting price of the PHEV is actually ¥4,000 ($562) cheaper than the previous model. Not a bad deal for an upgraded ride!
