BMW is taking luxury and safety to the next level with its newly unveiled armoured versions of the electric i7 and 7 Series saloon. Whether you’re a head of state or just someone who needs top-tier protection, these cars might be just what you're looking for!

Dubbed the BMW Protection Core, these vehicles come with a fortress of an armoured steel body, reinforced doors, underbody, and roof. This is not just any car; it’s designed to withstand bullets, explosives, drone attacks, and even hand grenades. BMW has stated that it offers “maximum protection,” and we believe them.

Need more security? The vehicles come with protective glass rated VPAM 10, the top level of protection for civilian vehicles. The 7 Series Protection can even resist ballistic attacks with speeds up to 820 metres per second, thanks to being VR9-rated.

Concerned about a possible blast? These cars offer PAS 300 blast resistance and a self-sealing fuel tank to avoid losing fuel. Plus, unique PAX 20in light-alloy wheels are installed, allowing you to drive up to 50mph even if the tyres are out of air.

Performance-wise, the two cars might have been toned down a bit due to the protective bodywork. The i7 Protection, for instance, clocks in at 9.0 seconds for a 0-62mph sprint and a top speed of 99mph. The 7 Series Protection, on the other hand, offers a bit more oomph, with a top speed of 130mph.

Don’t think for a moment that these armoured vehicles skimp on style. Both models sport a sleek, solid black exterior paint, discreetly styled on the outside. And for that extra flair, blue police lights are fitted to the roof and rear windscreen.

BMW’s legacy with armoured vehicles spans over 40 years, and this newest addition is all set to stun at the Munich motor show next month. If you want one, be ready for the first deliveries in December, all crafted at BMW's Dingolfing plant in Germany.
