BMW M8 Test Mule Spotted At Nürburgring Makes You Wonder

A BMW M8 test mule was recently spotted at the Nürburgring featuring a substantial aerodynamics package and distinctive livery. All these give the impression that the BMW is trying to bring on the market a stripped-back, track-focused upgrade package for the next M8 super-coupé in line.

First of all, you will notice the missing chrome front grille due to the striking pair of unobstructed air channels. The radiator is totally exposed for boosted cooling properties. Secondly comes the contrasting brake calipers, air-intake surrounds, and towing-eye covers. The M8 Competition gets even a rear wing for improved downforce over the standard car.

Even the prominent lower splitter at the front, bespoke wheel designs, and what looks to be a carbon fiber center roof section have their own purpose in becoming something greater than the stock M8. BMW announced that the mule’s rear windows have made way for plastic, vented items, but didn’t confirm anything on which components in the rear of the vehicle are being cooled.

If this prototype will or will not enter production as a standalone model there’s still assume that it might only be used to test various aftermarket additions for the standard M8 Competition. These new bodywork elements give a small glimpse at what more could be given to a 4.4-liter twin-turbocharged V8 stock car.

The most advanced option of the Competition, BMW claims that its M8 could perform 624 horsepower and 749 Newton-meters of torque and 0-62mph (0-100 km/h) sprint in just 3.2sec. With the upcoming 50 years anniversary of BMW's M performance division, this red-and-white livery suggests that it might become a commemorative anniversary model. In the next months, we would find out more details about the mysterious M8 test mule.
