BMW M4 Coupe M Legacy Edition Celebrates 40 Years Of The M3

BMW is marking 40 years of the BMW M3 Coupe with a limited-edition anniversary model, the M4 Coupe M Legacy Edition. At least for now, it is only being offered in Canada.
Production will be tiny. BMW plans to build just 40 cars in total. Buyers can pick between the rear-wheel-drive BMW M4 Coupe or the all-wheel-drive BMW M4 Competition Coupe. The mechanical side stays the same, so there are no extra horsepower figures to talk about here.

Instead, the focus is on a few visual touches. The car receives a set of 826M wheels finished in gold-bronze, similar to those used on the BMW M4 CS. BMW also added subtle M graphics on the hood and across the rear. They give the car a bit of attitude without making it look like someone went wild with aftermarket decals.
Color choice plays a big role as well. Buyers can choose Laguna Seca Blue, Velvet Blue Metallic, or Imola Red II. All three shades have appeared on past BMW performance cars, so they feel like a quiet nod to the brand’s history.

Inside, things stay fairly classic for an M car. The cabin gets black Merino leather, a Nappa leather dashboard, carbon fiber trim, and an Alcantara M steering wheel similar to the one used in the BMW M4 CSL. The M Driver’s Package also comes standard.
In Canada, pricing starts at about CAD $115,500 for the rear-wheel-drive version and CAD $124,500 for the M4 Competition. The first cars are expected to reach dealerships in the third quarter.

For now, BMW has not said whether other markets will get a similar anniversary edition. For Canadian buyers, though, this small run is clearly meant to mark an important chapter in the M3 story.
