Audi’s new Q5 Sportback is here, and it’s all about making a statement. The second-generation model takes the practicality of the regular Q5 and gives it a stylish twist. Think of it as the same dependable SUV, but dressed for a night out.

This version, with its coupe-like roofline and sleek design, is perfect for those drivers who value aesthetics without compromising everyday usability. The standout feature? That sleek, sloping roof. It flows into a reworked rear end that feels more sophisticated and sportier than the standard model.

The rear window leans at a sharper angle, and the body tapers elegantly for that fastback effect. Audi has maintained its iconic wraparound taillights, but now incorporates digital OLED technology to enhance their visual appeal. If you want a more aggressive look, the S Line trim adds some darker accents, while the high-performance SQ5 Sportback goes all out with quad exhaust pipes and unique silver finishes. It’s subtle, but once you spot it, you can’t unsee it.

Cargo space takes a slight hit, but it’s not bad at all. There’s 515 liters (about 18 cubic feet) in the back, expanding to 1,415 liters (50 cubic feet) with the seats down, which is only a minor drop from the regular Q5. Inside, the cabin mirrors the tech-savvy, clean design Audi is known for.

The 2025 Audi Q5 Sportback incorporates recycled materials, and its 11.9-inch digital gauge cluster and massive 14.5-inch central touchscreen will delight tech enthusiasts. Under the hood, the Q5 Sportback gets a range of mild-hybrid engines. The entry-level versions pack a 2.0-liter turbocharged gas or diesel engine, each with 201 horsepower. Diesel fans will appreciate the extra torque, but both come with a 48-volt mild-hybrid system for a little extra boost.

At the top of the range, the SQ5 Sportback steps things up with a turbocharged 3.0-liter V6, pushing out 362 horsepower and a healthy dose of torque. Power goes to all four wheels through Audi’s iconic quattro system, with a smooth seven-speed dual-clutch transmission handling the shifts. Pricing starts at €54,800 ($57,500) in Europe, with deliveries set for December 2024.

The SQ5 version will cost a bit more, at €85,400 ($89,620). Customers in the United States will have to wait until 2026 for its arrival, at which point it will compete directly with the BMW X4, Mercedes-Benz GLC Coupe, and Range Rover Velar. Audi’s bringing serious heat with this one!
