AUDI E7X Electric SUV Spotted In Cold-Weather Testing In China

Audi isn’t just teasing anymore - the China-only E7X is now out in the real world doing cold-weather testing. Shortly after early photos of the production model surfaced, Audi released a new image of the midsize electric SUV driving through snow in China.

Honestly, it looks pretty much identical to the E SUV Concept shown at the Guangzhou Auto Show last November. If you’ve seen the E5 Sportback, imagine that design turned into a taller, more SUV-shaped package. Finished in a deep purple and set against a snowy backdrop, it definitely stands out.

Up front, the E7X keeps the dramatic lighting theme. There’s an illuminated AUDI badge and a sweeping LED daytime running light signature that stretches across the entire front end. It’s bold, futuristic, and very much aimed at China’s high-tech urban crowd. The model is being developed with SAIC, one of China’s biggest automakers, so it’s clearly tailored for that market.

Like the E5 Sportback, the E7X features a noticeable LiDAR sensor mounted on the roof and digital side mirrors. According to information from China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, those digital mirrors will be optional - traditional mirrors will still be available for buyers who prefer them.

Around back, the lighting continues to make a statement. The rear AUDI badge lights up in red, framed by LED taillights that stretch across the tailgate. There’s also a split roof spoiler designed to improve aerodynamics.

As for performance, the base version will come with a rear-mounted motor producing 402 horsepower. Step up to the dual-motor all-wheel-drive model, and output jumps to 671 horsepower.

Buyers will have two battery options: a 100 kWh pack or a larger 109.3 kWh unit. Both use an 800-volt system, which should mean fast charging. Depending on configuration, including motor setup and wheel size, range is expected to fall between 615 km (382 miles) and 751 km (466 miles).

In terms of size, the E7X measures just under 199 inches long, about 79 inches wide, and a little over 67 inches tall, with a 120.5-inch wheelbase. It’s slightly smaller than the original concept, but the overall shape and presence remain very close to what Audi first showed.
