Audi Combustion-Engine Car To Be Launched In 2026

It’s official: Audi’s final combustion car will be launched in 2026. This has been presented on June 17th by Audi’s CEO to the Board of Management.

This represents a shifted and accelerated electrification timeline for Audi, which is set to comply with Volkswagen Group’s larger goals. The group has announced that will focus exclusively on electric cars in Europe starting with 2026. The acceleration may be caused inclusively by Euro 7 – the strict European regulations.

According to Duesmann, complying with Euro 7 standards adds some extra costs to manufacturing the engines. Bu taking care of the environment is worth it.

Audi’s first electric SUV was launched in 2018 – E-tron, followed by E-tron GT fastback and Q4 E-tron crossover. The A6 E-tron and the Q5 E-tron SUV are expected to hit the market in 2022. Most of the cars in the range come with an optional plug-in powertrain.

Rumors say that Audi will be selling combustion-engined cars in 2030 but there’s no info on which model will be the first one to run on an Ingolstadt engine. In case the rumors are true, Audi will be the last carmaker in the group to set a deadline for finishing its ICE program. It has been outcome by Mini with final ICE car announced for 2025, Jaguar with a fully EV in 2025, and Fiat – 2030.
