Loic Duval managed to get the best lap time (3m22.349 during the first qualifying session on Wednesday night) on the Le Mans circuit during the three qualifying sessions for the 24 hours race which will be held this weekend. Thus, the number 2 Audi bolide so will depart from pole position in the race that will start Saturday at 16. This crew is formed also of Tom Kristensen, the eight-time winner at Le Mans race and Allan McNish, the famous Scottish Formula 1 and endurance racing driver.

And this is not all! Audi has monopolized even the top three starting grid positions for the first time since 2002.

The next two places on the starting grid are occupied by Audi no.1 Audi No.1 crew piloted by Andre Loterer and Audi No.3 driven by Lucas di Grassi. The Toyota team has placed its two prototypes on the fourth and fifth places of the grid.

In the LMP2 class, the French rider, Olivier Pla, managed to get the best time of the category for the OAK Racing Morgan-Nissan prototype he pilots together with Alex Brundle and David Heinemeier Hanson. In the GTE Pro class, Stefan Mucke, the pilot of the Aston Martin Vantage, number 97, seemed to have taken over the leading position of the class until his time was improved in the last moment by Fredereic Makowiecki, the pilot of the Aston number 99. The Corvette team has struggled hard in the qualifying session and obtained a score by four points weaker than the one of the Aston Martin leaders. Aston Martin has achieved the best time in GTE Am class as well, with the bolide number 95 driven by Allan Simonsen, Kristian Poulsen and Christoffer Nygaard.

The 24 hours Le Mans race begins Saturday, June 22 at 4 p.m. The entire race will be broadcast on the Eurosport channel.
