Audi A3 facelift: equipping a new engine

The car manufacturer from Ingolstadt has announced that it is working on a version of the Audi A3 facelift launched in 2012. Additionally to the cosmetic changes applied, the Germans decided to equip the car with a new engine.
Actually, we're talking about an upgrade of the 1.8-liter gasoline TFSI, which is found on all models from VAG group such as Volkswagen, Skoda, or Seat. In order to distinguish it from his fellows, Audi A3 will get a new system called COD and that translates to Cylinder on Demand.
This allows the deactivation of two engine cylinders, the second and third, when possible. Most often at speeds up to 70km/h, when running idle or in urban areas with traffic jams.
According to engineers, this system could save up to one 1L of fuel per 100km. Moreover, it is possible that with the new facelift version, the engine will become more powerful and able to reach 190 horsepower.
