Apple Maps vs. Google: The Surprising Switch for Better Navigation & Privacy

Okay, we were Team Google for YEARS. Gmail, Android phones...we were all in. But it's time to admit it: Apple Maps is secretly way better – and it protects our privacy, too.

Let's face it, Google's shady side has been showing lately. Chrome's under fire for privacy issues, they keep killing off useful products...and all that data they collect? It's creepy, especially how it tracks our every move. With laws changing so fast, that location data could be weaponized against us.

Apple Maps vs. Google

So, we started ditching Google. Firefox instead of Chrome, iPhones for those secure messages...the works. And part of that meant trying Apple Maps just to get away from Google.

Surprise! Turns out it's ACTUALLY BETTER than Google Maps. Those voice instructions give us time to react, no more swerving between lanes at the last minute.

In big cities? Those clearly marked lanes on the screen are a lifesaver! No more panic attacks at confusing exits. Plus, the new design is so clean, especially on CarPlay. Makes those clunky carmaker systems look totally outdated.

Apple Maps vs. Google

And even way out in the country, Apple Maps has been solid for us. Updates were just as fast as Google. And for walking directions, they both factor in hills, which let's be real, matters a lot! The only place Apple Maps falls a bit short is bus arrival times, but we've found better apps for that anyway.

Seriously, if you've got an iPhone, give Apple Maps a chance. We know it was rough in the beginning, but it's gotten way better. Every little bit we break away from Google is a win for our privacy. (Plus, playing with 3D models of the Eiffel Tower is kinda fun.)

Apple Maps vs. Google

And car companies, listen up: quit trying to shove your bad navigation systems down our throats! We don't want them, and we definitely won't pay a subscription to use maps on a screen we already own. Don't make us stick a phone mount to that fancy display – we will if we have to!
