Anticipating the Arrival: ICE-Powered GMC Terrain and Chevrolet Equinox Set for Mid-2024 Debut

In a recent discussion during General Motors' third quarter earnings call, CEO Mary Barra shed light on the future lineups of Buick, Chevrolet, and GMC models.
First off, Barra confirmed that the next iteration of Buick Enclave is slated for a debut in the first half of 2024. This release will be accompanied by redesigned versions of Chevrolet Traverse and GMC Acadia.
While details on the latter two models have been unveiled, it’s known that the Enclave will harness power from a newly engineered turbocharged 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine, boasting 328 HP and 361 lb-ft of torque – an enhancement of 18 HP and 60 lb-ft from previous configurations.
The 2025 Enclave is poised to encapsulate luxury with a modern design, an opulent interior adorned with premium quality materials, and an independent curved display housing a digital instrument cluster alongside an infotainment system.
Following the trail of these three-row crossovers, the automotive world is set to welcome the next generation of ICE-powered GMC Terrain and Chevrolet Equinox, making their grand entrance in mid-2024.
The anticipation builds as specifics about these future crossovers remain scant. However, a glimpse into China’s version of the Equinox, unveiled earlier this year by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, showcases a more rugged design aligning with the aesthetics of the redesigned Traverse.
The question lingers whether this Chinese model version will traverse the Pacific to the United States. If it does, a larger redesigned crossover could be on the horizon. Barra praises these upcoming crossovers as eye-catching products, blending appealing aesthetics with comfort and spaciousness. A notable mention was the potential inclusion of enhanced driver assistance systems such as Super Cruise.
As the narrative unfolds, Barra hints at a streamlined engine lineup for these crossovers, with a series of familiar units making a comeback, as nearly 60% of the components are planned to be reused from existing models.
