French carmaker Alpine has officially confirmed its plans to introduce a supercar, likely an all-electric model, as part of its push into the EV space. Alpine plans to develop the car, tentatively named the "Future Alpine Supercar," at a cutting-edge research and development center that will open later this year.

This new R&D facility, called Hypertech Alpine, will be located at the Viry-Châtillon Formula 1 engine site near Paris and will focus on advancing future electric vehicle technologies. The facility's work will include developing high-performance batteries for Alpine's sports cars, such as the upcoming electric A110, as well as next-generation, ultra-dense battery cells intended for future solid-state applications.

Extreme conditions will test these high-tech batteries to ensure they can meet the demands of supercar performance. Alpine will also be working closely with Renault’s EV and software division, Ampere, to develop next-gen electric motors. This strongly indicates that the upcoming supercar will be electric, showcasing the brand’s EV capabilities. Although it is not a direct evolution of the Alpenglow concept, which features a hydrogen V6 powertrain, design cues from that concept may influence the look of the future supercar.

The design chief of Alpine has hinted that they created the Alpenglow with production in mind, providing a glimpse into the brand's future aesthetic direction. Additionally, the Hypertech Alpine hub will consolidate Alpine’s motorsport divisions, including its WEC, Dakar, and Formula 1 teams. Notably, the Viry-Châtillon site will stop producing engines for the Alpine F1 team after the 2025 season, marking an end to decades of engine development at the facility since Renault's entry into Formula 1 in the 1970s.

Alpine CEO Philippe Krief described the Hypertech Alpine Center as crucial to the brand's future and a key part of Alpine’s innovation strategy. He emphasized that the facility will preserve the site’s expertise while pushing Alpine forward as a leader in EV technology, keeping its motorsport heritage at the core of the brand’s identity.
