Alpina B4 Is A 462bhp 4-door Saloon That Will Debut In 2022

With a next-generation B4, Alpina is projected to expand its range of upgraded BMW cars. While the prior car was centered on the 2-door 4 Series Coupé, its successor is slated to be based on the new 4 Series Gran Coupé.

An anonymous source on the famous Bimmerpost forum promises to have access to future development strategy: "assembled from various leaks within the BMW group," according to the tip. The new 2022 Alpina B4 will debut in March 2022, alongside BMW's introduction of the 430ix four-wheel-drive edition of the G26-generation 4 Series Gran Coupé.

We already have a fair notion of the new four-door version's make-up based on the mechanical parallels between the prior B4 and the 3 Series-based B3. The B4's twin-turbocharged 3.0-liter petrol straight-six, which delivers 462bhp and 516 lb-ft to both axles via an eight-speed automated transmission designed for rapid shifts and enhanced response, will almost certainly be shared with the new B3. A diesel variant, codenamed D4, is expected to arrive soon after.

Because the Gran Coupé and 3 Series are so similar in size and weight, imagine a sub-4.0sec 0-62mph performance and a max speed nearing 190mph. 2022 Alpina B4 will essentially cover the gap between BMW's own M440i xDrive and the full-fat M4 as did the previous edition.

It will also have its own dynamic personality, thanks to a suspension tune that is primarily focused on comfort and variable dampers that aim to improve turn-in reaction. To deal with the extra grunt, the four-wheel-drive system and limited-slip differential will be tweaked.

2022 Alpina B4 will be distinguished from its conventional BMW counterpart by a discreet body kit with Alpina badging, unique color schemes, and the tuner's signature 20-spoke alloy wheels, as is customary for Alpina.
We may expect the new arrival to be unveiled before the end of 2021, with a March 2022 launch date planned. Expect prices to start at £65,000, putting the B4 between both the 4 Series and the M4.
