All-New Mitsubishi Destinator SUV Unveiled: Built For Families, Ready For Adventure
by AutoExpert | 17 July, 2025
You know how every superhero has an origin story? Well, Mitsubishi just gave birth to its latest adventure-ready family hero, and it’s called the Destinator. It sounds like a GPS with muscles, but don’t let the name fool you: this thing means business.
Unveiled in Indonesia, the all-new Mitsubishi Destinator is a three-row SUV built for families who want space, comfort, and a bit of off-the-beaten-path capability. It’s the production version of last year’s DST concept and rides on a front-wheel-drive platform borrowed from the smaller Xforce, but with a lot more punch.

Under the hood, the Mitsubishi Destinator packs a turbocharged 1.5-liter four-cylinder engine with 161 horsepower and 184 lb-ft of torque. Power goes to the front wheels via a CVT, and Mitsubishi has also tuned it for comfort and equipped it with five drive modes and a decent amount of ground clearance.

Inside, the Mitsubishi Destinator seats seven across three rows. Cargo space is snug with all seats in use, but once you fold down the second and third rows, it opens up into a pretty spacious hauler for road trips.

On the tech front, it comes with a 12.3-inch infotainment screen and an 8-inch digital cluster, neatly tucked into a glossy black dashboard. Depending on the trim, you’ll also find a Yamaha-branded sound system, ambient lighting, a panoramic sunroof, and all the safety tech you'd expect, including a full suite of driver assistance features.

The Mitsubishi Destinator will officially debut at the Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show on July 23, with sales kicking off right away in Indonesia. Mitsubishi plans to bring it to other ASEAN markets like Vietnam and the Philippines and eventually to South Asia, Latin America, the Middle East, and Africa.
