Acura’s Smallest Crossover: A First Look At The ADX

New from Acura is the ADX, a luxury SUV that shares a base with the Integra and the HR-V from Honda. With its three available model levels, 1.5-liter turbocharged engine, and promise of affordable luxury, the ADX is a formidable competitor.

Interestingly, the ADX launch comes with a cheeky tagline about Acura now covering "A to Z," a nod to its lineup that includes the electric ZDX.

It’s a clever bit of marketing, though it might be stretching the alphabet metaphor a tad thin. Still, let’s give them points for trying. Design-wise, the ADX sticks close to Acura’s playbook. Think of it as a baby MDX—sleek, understated, but not exactly earth-shattering. Acura seems to be leaning into familiarity here rather than breaking molds. Sure, they’ll tell you about clever touches like hidden windshield wipers, but those aren’t exactly the kind of features that light up group chats.

What the ADX does offer is smartly packaged dimensions: 185.8 inches long, 72.5 inches wide, and 63.8 inches tall, slotting it neatly between competitors like the Lexus NX and Cadillac XT4. For fans of Acura’s more grown-up siblings, it’s a welcomingly scaled-down alternative. Inside, the ADX features redesigned air vents and a more premium-feeling dash.

Higher trims, like the A-Spec with the Advanced Package, bring the heat: a sliding panoramic roof, ventilated seats, a 15-speaker Bang & Olufsen sound system, and enough tech to satisfy gadget lovers. Power comes courtesy of a 1.5-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine. Acura hasn’t released exact numbers, but we can expect around 200 hp and 192 lb-ft of torque.

A CVT handles shifting duties, with front-wheel drive as standard and all-wheel drive available for extra grip. Driving modes tweak the throttle response, steering weight, and even pump in artificial engine sounds for a little extra drama in Sport mode. When it comes to price, Acura is keeping it just vague enough to stay interesting, promising a starting MSRP in the mid-$30,000 range. Built in North America, the Acura ADX is set to roll into dealerships early next year.
