Bugatti Chiron Convertible – never gonna happen. Full stop. The fastest roadster in the world will not get a convertible version and there’s a good explanation for that.

According to Andy Wallace, Bugatti Chief Test Driver, metrics don’t allow it. In other words, the famous power figures of 1.500 hp, 1.180 lb-ft of torque, and a top speed of 273 mph cannot happen in a convertible alternative. 

The USD3 million car provides a sense of stability, even at 200 km/h, courtesy of the chassis’ torsional rigidity of 50.000 Nm per degree. These 50.000 Nm per degree are the ones ensuring that Chiron gracefully twists by a single degree. Just for your information, Rolls-Royce Phantom reaches 40.000, while Toyota Corolla settles at 10.500.

50.000 Nm per degree will drastically decrease if the roof is taken off. And Bugatti doesn’t want to compromise with its Chiron. 

Nevertheless, the model is available in various versions, including Chiron Sport, Pur Sport, and Super Sport. This leaves Veyron Grand Sport Vitesse the fastest convertible in the world, reaching 408.84 km/h.
