5 Extreme Versions Of The Mercedes-Benz SL

The German roadster has managed to build quite a reputation over the years. Details about the brand new Mercedes-Benz SL have been made unofficially known to the world prior to the 2015 launch at the Los Angeles Auto Show, which seemed to try to comprise the brand's entire history in one unique iconic car.

Here are some of the most extreme Mercedes versions ever:

Carlsson C25 Super GT Final Edition

This car comes from the famous German tuner Carlsson, who used as a Mercedes Benz SL as a base and built an entire carbon fiber body Super GT with a power of 753 hp, released by an astonishing V12 engine with a capacity of 6 liters. All of it is fixed on a suspension that can be customized through an iPhone.

The all times famous 300 SL

This is certainly a tribute to performance and design in the automotive world. The author of this model, Rudolf Uhlenhaut, has worked on the racing program of Mercedes in 1930 and 1950. 1950 is the year when the W194 chassis was built, and thus it became the base for 300 SL.

The Absolutely Mental Brabus 850

Not so long ago, Brabus was the fastest roadster on the planet, being a hardtop convertible based on SL63 AMG. The torque reaches 1069 lb-ft, at a maximum speed of 230 mph. These figures had to be limited later because the car was literally on the verge of exploding. Thus, the torque was reduced to 850 lb-ft, which is also the number in the name.

Laurence Gartel's 1982 SL

The artist managed to transform a well balanced 380 SL from 1982 into a car that won the "Best of Class" art car award at Amelia Island Concours d'Elegance.

The Dirty SL

It may seem a little weird seeing a Mercedes passing through a puddle or anything dirty since these cars are all so classy and delicate. Well, Erich Waxenberger, who owed a 500 SL from 1981, decided to give it a try and transform the car into a rally car.
