The 2027 Mazda CX-5 Gets Google Gemini, But Keeps Its Old Engine

The 2027 Mazda CX-5 can now talk to Google’s Gemini AI assistant, but don’t expect any extra horsepower to come with it. Mazda is updating the tech inside its popular SUV while keeping the styling and mechanical setup largely unchanged.
The biggest news is what happens inside the cabin. Gemini lets drivers use voice commands to handle tasks they’d normally ask their Google-enabled phones to do, without having to poke around the infotainment screen. Under the hood, though, it’s business as usual.

The 2.5-liter four-cylinder still produces 187 hp and 186 lb-ft of torque, sending power through a six-speed automatic transmission. All-wheel drive is standard, and the engine runs on regular 87-octane gasoline.
The 2027 Mazda CX-5 also comes with a solid list of safety features, including radar cruise control, traffic-sign recognition, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic assistance, and a driver attention monitor. Rear braking assistance is included, too. The exterior remains largely untouched, so anyone hoping for a dramatic makeover will have to keep waiting.

Prices start at $31,485, including delivery, for the entry-level 2.5 S Select. The S Preferred adds 19-inch wheels, while the Premium and Premium Plus trims bring extra comforts such as leather seats and a power liftgate. The range-topping S Premium Plus starts at $40,935.

Looking for a Mazda with hybrid power? The CX-50 is the alternative to consider. The CX-5 sticks with its gasoline engine and the driving feel that has helped it win fans over the years.
