2027 Lexus NX Revealed With Up To 322 HP And 62 Miles Of EV Range

Five years after the current NX arrived, Lexus has given its compact SUV a proper update for 2027. There’s a sharper face, a much-improved cabin, and plenty of changes underneath, especially for the hybrid and plug-in hybrid models.

The front end gets the clearest visual makeover. The headlights now have a new LED signature that flows into the reshaped Spindle grille, while triangular bumper openings give the nose a more angular look. New wheels freshen up the side profile, and the chrome trim along the body is gone.

At the back, the taillights have revised L-shaped graphics and sit on either side of an illuminated Lexus badge. The F Sport gets its own treatment with piano-black exterior details, small aerodynamic tweaks, 20-inch wheels, and red brake calipers. New paint options include Sonic Platinum, Sonic Tellus khaki green, and Titanium Carbide Grey, the latter reserved for the F Sport.

The NX is now 1.18 inches longer, measuring 184.6 inches, although the 105.9-inch wheelbase and the rest of its dimensions stay the same. The cabin has received a far more extensive makeover. Lexus redesigned the dashboard using ideas from the latest ES, then added a freestanding 14-inch touchscreen with the newest Lexus Connect system and a 12.3-inch digital instrument display.

The center console has been simplified, while some of the new physical controls use haptic feedback and sit flush with the dashboard when they are not being used. New cabin finishes include Clay Red upholstery, Prominence for the F Sport, Dark Brown Oak wood and Forged Bamboo made with 55% bio-materials. Higher-spec models can also get Lexus Sensory Concierge, which coordinates lighting, displays, climate, seat heating and fragrance through three cabin modes.

Lexus has also spent considerable effort underneath the familiar body. The NX continues to use the TNGA-K platform, but the structure is stiffer and the suspension and electric power steering have been retuned. A new cornering brake system has been added, while extra insulation helps keep drivetrain and road noise out of the cabin. The hybrid models now use Lexus’ sixth-generation hybrid system, with the power control unit and transaxle combined into a single eAxle-based unit. The new setup cuts 22 lbs of weight and reduces the unit’s height by 4 inches.

The NX 450h+ gets the most substantial powertrain upgrade. Its lithium-ion battery grows from 18 kWh to 23 kWh, while total output varies between 288 and 322 hp, depending on the market. The revised E-Four all-wheel-drive system can operate across a wider range of conditions. Electric-only range rises to 62 miles under WLTP, an improvement of 16 miles. The EPA estimate is more than 40 miles, around 3 miles more than the previous model. DC fast charging and a powered charging door are also new.

The NX 350h continues with a 2.5-liter engine but now uses the new eAxle hardware. Combined output ranges from 188 to 241 hp (140-180 kW / 190-245 PS), with front- and all-wheel-drive configurations available. Some markets will also get an NX 300h with a 2.0-liter engine producing 194 hp (145 kW / 197 PS). Lexus has not yet detailed the North American range, but the existing combustion-powered versions are expected to continue.

The refreshed NX is scheduled to reach global markets from late 2026, followed by European deliveries in spring 2027. US pricing and specifications will be announced at a later date. Since the first-generation model arrived in 2014, Lexus has sold around 1.9 million NX vehicles, making this compact SUV a crucial part of the brand’s lineup.
