2027 Ford Ranger Could Get The Ranger Raptor’s 3.0-Liter V6

The Ford Ranger could be getting a serious engine upgrade for 2027. Reports suggest the XLT and Lariat will ditch the twin-turbo 2.7-liter V6 for a bigger 3.0-liter EcoBoost. That’s the engine used in the Ranger Raptor, so regular Ranger buyers could soon get more muscle without stepping up to the off-road beast.
The Raptor currently delivers 405 hp and 430 lb-ft of torque. The 2027 Bronco is also expected to get a detuned version producing 380 hp and 440 lb-ft. Ford hasn’t revealed the Ranger’s power figures yet, but there’s a catch: the company will likely keep its output below the Raptor’s. After all, Ford probably doesn’t want its regular pickup stealing the flagship’s thunder.

The F-150 offers a possible clue. Its 3.0-liter V6 produces 325 hp and 400 lb-ft, matching the old 2.7-liter engine. Ford could follow the same approach with the Ranger, giving it a bigger engine without a major jump in power. For now, though, that’s just speculation.

There are other changes coming, too. The 2027 Ford Ranger is expected to get new wheel designs, revised grilles, and a new Neptune Blue paint option. Carbonized Gray and Velocity Blue are reportedly being dropped, while new rocker rails with hoop steps will also be available. Ford is even bringing back the traditional blue oval badge.

Inside, the base XL should get a 12-inch infotainment screen and dual-zone climate control. Lane keeping and intersection assist will also be standard, alongside updates to Ford’s Co-Pilot360 safety tech. New appearance packages and a Luxury Package round out the list. Ford hasn’t confirmed everything yet, but the 2027 Ranger looks set for more than a few cosmetic tweaks.
