2025 Toyota Hilux Unveiled With 48V Boost And Enhanced Features In Australia

Toyota recently gave the eighth-gen Hilux in Australia a third makeover. They updated the appearance, added advanced tech, and included a 48-volt boost to the 2.8-liter engine. The goal? To keep up with the Ford Ranger, which dominated as Australia's top ride last year.

The Aussie 2025 Toyota Hilux got a facelift, a sleeker bumper, and a more manageable tailgate. Now, let's talk about that 48V tech in the engine. Toyota says it makes the Hilux more fuel-efficient, quieter, and overall better. The automaker claims it can improve fuel efficiency by 6–10%, depending on the version.

In terms of looks, the 2024 model has different grille and bumper styles based on the trim level. The WorkMate gets a black honeycomb grille, the SR has a silver-colored bumper, and the SR5 rocks a black upper grille, cool LEDs, and shiny black details. The high-end Rogue and GR Sport trims are likely keeping their sleek bodykits, although we didn't get pictures of those.

Now, about that 48V mild-hybrid thing—it's standard in the Rogue and SR5, and optional for the 4×4 SR. This 48V system includes an electric motor, a small battery, and a converter, all working together. Toyota says it boosts power, too; in the EU model, it's up by 16 hp and 48 lb-ft.

Toyota is adding features too. All SR models get parking sensors—two in the front and four in the back. The 48V models get cool extras like climate control, smart entry/start, auto power windows, and even carpet floor mats. If you're rolling with the fancier SR5, Rogue, or GR Sport trims, guess what? You get a wireless charging pad and two USB-C ports in the back.

The new 2025 Toyota Hilux is hitting Australian showrooms in March 2024. Price tag? It starts at AU$26,475 for the basic Workmate and goes up to AU$74,310 for the top-tier GR Sport. If you want that 48V tech, be ready to spend an extra AU$590-1,605 compared to the older models.

However, we're not sure if these Aussie updates are heading to other parts of the world. This Hilux generation is getting ready to step back, and there's talk about a brand-new one coming in the next few years. So, keep your eyes peeled!
