Toyota has unveiled updates for the 2025 Alphard and Vellfire minivans, bringing some exciting changes, including a new plug-in hybrid option and a luxurious new trim for the Alphard. These models, which debuted their fourth generation in June 2023, are now adding a plug-in hybrid variant to their lineup, alongside the existing gasoline and hybrid versions.

The new plug-in hybrid combines a 2.5-liter gasoline engine with Toyota’s E-Four all-wheel drive system, delivering 302 hp. A fast charger can recharge the battery to 80% in just 38 minutes, providing an electric range of 45 miles on a full charge.

The battery’s position under the floor lowers the center of gravity by 1.4 inches, improving stability. Toyota also promises a quieter and smoother driving experience, especially in electric mode, thanks to extra sound insulation that reduces noise and vibrations.

The Toyota Alphard also gets a new Space Lounge trim, which offers a four-seat layout with independent captain’s chairs in the back, aimed at providing a truly luxurious experience. This trim is available in both the hybrid and plug-in hybrid versions and takes inspiration from the Lexus LM for its plush interior.

Higher trims like the Z and Z Premier now come with a premium 15-speaker JBL sound system and a 14-inch display for rear passengers. All versions of the minivans also get a Digital Interior Mirror, which displays footage from both the front and rear cameras.
