2025 Jeep Wrangler Loses V6 Automatic, Gains New Colors And Features

Jeep has now unveiled further updates for the 2025 Wrangler, eliciting mixed reactions due to the removal of some popular configurations.

One of the more significant changes is the discontinuation of the 3.6-liter Pentastar V6 paired with the eight-speed automatic transmission. From now on, the V6 will only be available with a six-speed manual, meaning the automatic option is no longer part of the equation.

Jeep previously offered this combination, charging a hefty $4,500 for it, while Mopar sold the same transmission for $3,611.20, a price difference that raised some eyebrows. Jeep didn’t provide a clear reason for dropping this V6 and automatic pairing, although they oddly framed the decision as giving customers freedom of choice in powertrains.

With that setup gone, anyone wanting an automatic will need to choose between the plug-in hybrid powertrain, the turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine, or the 6.4-liter HEMI V8.

Another notable change for 2025 is that crank windows are officially obsolete. All Wranglers now come standard with power windows and locks, a feature previously limited to higher trims like the Sport S. This marks the end of a more rugged, old-school feature in the base models.

Jeep is also adding a new olive drab-inspired paint color called ’41, and buyers can now equip their Wrangler with an Active Cabin Ventilation system, which lets users pre-ventilate the cabin via a mobile app before getting in.

With these extra features, it's no surprise that the price has gone up slightly. The entry-level Wrangler Sport now starts at $32,690, up from $31,995. The Sport S sees a $100 increase for the two-door model but a $395 drop for the four-door version.

Meanwhile, the Willys trim sees small price bumps of $100 and $200, while the Sahara trim actually receives a $400 reduction.
