2024 Toyota Yaris Cross: New Hybrid Power and Advanced Tech Features

Toyota has announced exciting updates for the European Yaris Cross, following the facelift of the Yaris supermini. The subcompact crossover now boasts a robust hybrid engine, enhanced interior technologies, better sound insulation, and upgraded safety features.
The new Hybrid 130 model features a potent 1.5-liter engine, delivering 130 HP and 137 lb-ft of torque, resulting in improved acceleration - 0-62 mph in just 10.7 seconds.
Despite this power boost, the Yaris Cross maintains its lead in low CO2 emissions, averaging between 103 and 122 g/km.
For those seeking a less potent option, the hybrid 115 version continues with 114 HP and 104 lb-ft of torque. Toyota emphasizes that hybrid technology remains a key factor for Yaris Cross buyers, which is why the European B-SUV segment offers only hybrid and ICE versions.
Externally, the Yaris Cross retains its familiar appearance but introduces a new Juniper Blue color. The Premiere Edition trims stand out with their exclusive Urban Khaki shade, bespoke interior elements, and a fresh set of 18-inch wheels. Both the Premiere Edition and the GR Sports variant benefit from the enhanced hybrid powertrain, with the latter featuring a sportier chassis from Gazoo Racing.
Inside, the Yaris Cross impresses with its technological advancements. Options include a 7-inch or 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and a 9-inch or 10.4-inch infotainment touchscreen. The Toyota Smart Connect system has been upgraded to support wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.
Following the Hatchback Yaris model, the Yaris Cross now features a Smart Digital Key with added remote control capabilities.
Toyota's engineers have also focused on sound minimization, adding triple-layer insulation behind the dashboard, a dynamic damper on the engine mount, additional felt on the cowl top silencer, and a resonator on the intake hose.
Safety has been enhanced too, with the T-Mate Toyota safety kit now standard across the Yaris Cross lineup. This includes improved radar and camera systems and new ADAS features like the Rear Seat Reminder System and Proactive Driving Assist.
Online reservations for the 2024 Toyota Yaris Cross will begin later this month in select European markets, with pricing details to be announced closer to the launch. Competitors in the B-segment include the Skoda Kamiq, Ford Puma, VW T-Cross, Renault Captur, and others.
