2024 Toyota Mirai To Feature Safety Upgrade And More

Toyota has announced a series of updates for the 2024 Mirai model, set to launch in Japan on December 18. Putting a strong emphasis on safety, the 2024 Mirai introduces the latest Toyota Safety Sense system.
What we know is that the Proactive Driving Assist function now offers deceleration and steering support. According to a translated trim guide, buyers can anticipate a pre-collision system with pedestrian and bicyclist detection, lane departure warning, cross-traffic alert, and lane change assist.
The package also includes adaptive cruise control, automatic high beams, road sign assist, and a blind spot monitor. The Japanese Mirai will maintain the Teammate semi-autonomous driving system and an Advanced Park function for safe and smooth parking.
Other changes include more trims featuring 12.3-inch displays, a new 64-color ambient lighting system, and digital key technology. While the fate of these upgrades reaching the US-spec Mirai remains uncertain, the Teammate system is already available in America.
With no mention of powertrain updates, the US version is likely to retain its three hydrogen storage tanks, a fuel cell, a 1.24 kWh lithium-ion battery, and an 182 hp electric motor powering the rear wheels.
