2024 Lexus LS Springs Forward with Notable Enhancements: A Fusion of Luxury and Modernity

Lexus has unveiled the enhancements for the 2024 model year for its LS, LS 500, and 500h models. Despite their modest scope, these upgrades are set to enrich the owner's experience significantly. The Japanese hallmark luxury limo has always been deemed a prudent buy in its segment given its $80,000 starting price.

However, it had been trailing slightly on the technological front over the years.

Unlike the latest Mercedes models that boast features like photo-taking and TikTok access (though the utility of such features is debatable), Lexus has always had a deeper grasp of luxury.

Their latest offerings for the LS models epitomize this understanding by introducing essential functionalities along with some aesthetic refreshes.

The exterior of the LS now exudes an elegant yet assertive demeanor, which we find appealing even in a world where the BMW XM exists with its imposing grille.

An optional $3,100 Silver Illusion exterior shade and five new wheel sets, tailored for each model based on the grade, have been introduced.

Notable standard features for the LS 500 include a head-up display, a 12.3-inch multi-information touchscreen display, and a wireless phone charger. The hybrid model retains the previous-generation LSS+ 2.5, while the gas model is blessed with the new suite of high-tech driver assistance setup named LSS+ 3.0.

A highlight is the introduction of a completely digitized key, standard with the gas model. Clients can opt for a Remote Connect subscription and utilize their smartphones as a key via the Lexus app.

This digital key not only handles the conventional functions but can be shared with up to seven guests. It also comes with unique settings like valet parking or home delivery of packages, allowing for remote trunk access, for instance.

On the mechanical front, the LS 500 continues to be powered by a 3.4-liter twin-turbocharged V6 engine, boasting 416 HP and 442 lb-ft of torque, with the peak torque being available at a mere 1,600 rpm. The 10-speed transmission remains standard, ensuring smooth rides.

Speed enthusiasts would appreciate that the LS 500 can accelerate to 60 mph in just 4.6 seconds. Additionally, a Torsen limited-slip center differential with an all-wheel-drive setup is available for an extra $3,250. The LS offers various driving modes including Sport S+, Sport S, Custom, Normal, Comfort, and Eco, although the sedan truly shines when set in Comfort mode.

The LS 500h hybrid engine also receives a power bump to match the gas-powered model's output, and now houses an AWD system.

For those seeking a sportier stance, the F-Sport trim has been upgraded, offering a more aggressive appearance. The package includes a plethora of F-Sport badges, a perforated grille pattern on the seating surfaces, and 20-inch gloss black wheels. For the 2024 models, Lexus has added a Panoramic View Monitor and a heated leather-trimmed steering wheel to the F-Sport.

As you ascend the model ladder, the offerings become more opulent. The Executive and Luxury models can be optionally adorned with interior Haku elements—a technique of hand-crafting metal that dates back 400 years, and is applied manually to the interior of the vehicle.

2024 Lexus LS

The 2024 LS 500 starts at $80,685, while the LS 500h is priced at $115,560, inclusive of destination and handling fees. The upgraded versions are anticipated to hit dealerships later this year.

The configurator for the 2024 model is now live, allowing us to check out the fully-equipped LS 500 F-Sport with RWD, priced up to $92,115. In comparison, a base Mercedes-Benz S-Class starts at roughly $115,000, while the BMW 740i, despite its controversial design, edges closer at $96,400 but quickly ascends to $100,000 with minimal additions like a blue exterior and some plush Mocha-colored leather.

2024 Lexus LS

It's apparent that the Lexus LS and Hybrid LS (akin to the Genesis G90) continue to stand as the discerning luxury limo choices, offering a blend of timeless luxury and modern-day conveniences.
