With the introduction of Subaru's new e-BOXER engine in the UK, the 2022 Subaru Forester lineup has expanded. The Forester e-BOXER, which was announced for the wider European market in January, integrates a 2.0-liter horizontally opposed four-cylinder motor with 147 hp, an electric engine with 16.5 hp, and a modern Lineartronic gearbox.

It is also equipped with a 13.5 kWh battery pack. Engine driving, EV driving, and Motor Assist driving are the three driving modes available with this drivetrain. At low speeds, the vehicle is powered only by the electric engine, but at mid speeds, the electric engine is accompanied by a four-cylinder motor.

The four-cylinder alone drives the Forester e-BOXER and refills the battery at faster speeds. Subaru has also included its fourth-generation EyeSight Driver Assist Technology in the 2022 Forester, which has a broader angle of vision and offers a total of 11 safety features, including Automatic Emergency Steering, Adaptive Cruise Control with Lane Centering, and much more.

For the 2022 model year, Forester's Driver Monitoring System has been modified to include a gesture control capability that allows the user to regulate the temperature of the climate control system using hand movements. The Forester e-BOXER, on the other hand, boasts 220 mm (8.6-inch) of ride height and Subaru's X-MODE system, which includes Snow/Dirt and Deep Snow / Mud driving modes. A Hill Descent Control feature is also available.

With the rear seats up, the Subaru Forester e-BOXER has a cargo capacity of 509 liters (17.9 cubic feet) and 1,779 liters (62.8 cubic feet) when the rear seats are folded down. It can also tow 1,870 kg (4,122 lbs). Subaru has yet to announce the release date and price for the Forester e-BOXER in the UK.
