2022 Polaris Slingshot Gets A Fresh SLR Grade With 203 HP

New features are being added to the Polaris Slingshot in 2022, which has been around for years. The reintroduction of the SLR trim, which sits between the mid-level SL and the top-of-the-line R, is the major news. The model, which begins at $28,899, has a two-tone body with gloss and matte paintwork, as well as bright decorations.

The cabin is mostly unchanged from the SL, however, the SLR, like the R, comes with a Sport Interior kit. A Rockford Fosgate audio system and a recognizable 7-inch infotainment system with a Bluetooth connection are also included. The SLR has the same 2.0-liter four-cylinder motor as the top-of-the-line R model.

It has a power output of 203 hp (151 kW / 206 PS) and torque of 144 lb-ft (195 Nm), which is a major improvement over the S and SL, which had a power output of 178 hp (133 kW / 180 PS) and 120 lb-ft (195 Nm) (163 Nm). The engine is coupled to a five-speed manual transmission, although a five-speed automated manual transmission is also available for $1,750.

The Slingshot R, on the other hand, gets a few tweaks for 2022. The most visible change is the addition of a new vented hood with a ram air-style intake. The model's aggression is emphasized, as well as enhancing aerodynamics and cockpit airflow. The hood will be available as an addition for all 2020-2022 vehicles. In addition to the redesigned hood, the R also has four-piston Brembo front brakes that guarantee unrivaled stopping power.

They have calipers that are either red or orange and also rotors that are 14% bigger than those on lesser variations. However, the Brembo brakes will be available as an option on other trim levels. The 2022 Slingshot can be outfitted with an all-new Excursion Top for $1,799.99, which is a significant stylistic upgrade. It has a soft top that can be removed, as compared to the fiberglass roof with T-tops of the Slingshade.

After that, four carefully designed accessory sets substantially improve the Slingshot experience for the driver's own liking and driving style. The Drive Series is the first, and it features the vented hood and Excursion Top discussed before. A ripper vented wind deflector, heated/ventilated seats, and a Stage 1 Prostar Tune that generates 25 hp (19 kW / 25 PS) are all included.

The Escape Series takes a minor detour but keeps the Excursion Top and heated/ventilated seats. This version, on the other hand, is all about storage, with a brand-new roll hoop storage bag, a center console bag, dashboard bags, and driver/passenger bags. With a Rockford Fosgate roll hoop audio kit and an XKGlow ambient lighting system, the Show Series gives the car a party-like feel.

The Slingshot LED app allows owners to choose the colors they want to be shown or set the lights to dance to music. The Design Series, which includes a vented hood, the Slingshade canopy, and countless color-matched pieces, is the last option. They're accompanied by a wind deflector and blacked-out badging.

The 2022 Polaris Slingshot starts at $19,999 and goes up to $32,499 for the R model. The price of the entry-level model remains the same, but the R is $1,200 more expensive than last year. The SL rises $1,000 to $25,999.
