It's been almost one month since the new 2022 Mercedes-AMG SL was leaked, and now we can see the model's features and all of the substantial changes. With a more sporting look on the outside, the new SL gets a whole new lease on life.

With its long wheelbase, broad hood, convertible roof, and angular rear end, the SL retains its familiar overall look. The redesigned AMG radiator grille, angular headlights, and slender taillights that taper to the wheels instantly transform this design.

The AMG 4.0-liter V8 biturbo engine is housed beneath the new AMG SL's broad bonnet. It will be available at two output levels when it first goes on the market. The AMG SL 63 produces 577 horsepower and 590 pound-feet of torque, while the AMG SL 55 delivers 469 horsepower and 516 pound-feet of torque.

Active rear-axle steering, 4MATIC+ all-wheel drive, AMG SPEEDSHIFT MCT 9G transmission, six AMG driving modes, AMG Active Ride Control, and a revolutionary new AMG brake system are some of the other prominent mechanical characteristics. Mercedes also mentions that a new hybrid version of the SL is now in the works and will be available very soon.

The inside of the new 2022 AMG SL was influenced by the 300 SL Roadster. Its cabin style is not just driver-centric; the harmonious instrument panel, which boasts a high-resolution 12.3-inch LCD screen, was strongly influenced by aviation. The redesigned galvanized turbine nozzles, which appear to be modeled by airplane turbines, are another smart move.

When the driver wants to open up the cabin, they can lower the new electric soft top.  As a result, the new SL is 46 pounds lighter and has a lower center of gravity. The 11.9-inch multimedia touchscreen, which uses the MBUX infotainment system, may be controlled by both the front passenger and the driver. This screen is interesting in that it can be tilted from 12 to 32 degrees to minimize sunlight reflections to a minimum.

The new 2022 Mercedes-AMG SL will be offered in 12 different paint finishes when it goes on sale in 2022. The cost has not yet been disclosed.
