2022 Ford Tourneo Connect Is Just A Rebadged VW Caddy

We first saw spy photos of the 2022 Ford Tourneo Connect in July, which revealed a well-masked prototype. While the disguise worked, it couldn't hide the fact the next-gen Ford Tourneo Connect will be little more than a rebadged Volkswagen Caddy.

After about three months of development, the new van is willing to make its public debut before hitting the market in Europe in early 2022. Customer deliveries are expected to begin in the spring of 2022. Ford Tourneo Connect gets a bigger and more prominent radiator grille accompanied by headlights with incorporated C-shaped LED daytime running lights, which is the main aesthetic difference here between Caddy and the Tourneo Connect.

Clients will be able to choose among 3 trim levels: Sport, Titanium, and Trend, as well as an Active model with extra body cladding and unique design changes. At introduction, 10 exterior hues will be provided.

As a result of the streamlined center console layout, the cabin may look familiar to those used to the new Caddy.
The functions for the HVAC and audio systems are incorporated into the infotainment system, and Ford doesn't even use the name SYNC in its news statement, implying that the new Tourneo Connect runs on Volkswagen's infotainment technology.

The entry-level version comes with an 8.25-inch display as default, while the Titanium, Sport, and Active variants have a bigger 10-inch display. The motors are once again shared with the new Caddy under the bonnet. This implies a 1.5-liter turbocharged gasoline engine with 115 hp (85 kW) and a 2.0-liter diesel motor with 122 hp (90 kW) and 102 hp (102 kW) are available (75 kW).

These engines are effectively Volkswagen's TSI and TDI four-cylinder engines, however, Ford labels them EcoBoost and EcoBlue, respectively. All 2022 Ford Tourneo Connect models come standard with a six-speed manual transmission, with a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox available as an alternative. It will be the first occasion that a diesel Tourneo Connect with a manual transmission will be available with an all-wheel drive.
