Although it's unclear when the next Mustang will arrive, Ford continues to improve the S550-generation pony car. For the first time, the renowned Ford Mustang will be available in a Stealth Edition for the 2022 model year, with a variety of dark embellishments giving the rear-wheel-drive coupe an ominous aspect.

The aesthetic package comes with 19-inch Ebony Black alloy wheels, dark emblems, and side mirror caps, and is accessible for the 310-hp EcoBoost Premium variant. To spice things up, Ford adds a back wing and clear LED taillamp covers to the Ice White Appearance Kit.

Internally, the only alterations are illuminated sill plates and a matte/gloss black coating for the instrument panel logo. Carbonized Gray, Shadow Black, Atlas Blue, and Dark Matter are the hues accessible for the 2022 Ford Mustang EcoBoost Premium Stealth Edition, which will be available later this year.

The GT Performance Package for the California Special is another significant new feature for the next model year. It includes a Torsen limited-slip differential and Brembo six-piston brake calipers to the front axle of the Mustang GT Premium fastback and convertible. The track-ready equipment includes a larger tubular rear sway bar and heavy-duty front springs, as well as upgraded stability control and electric power steering.

The California Special 'Stang's GT Performance Package comes with staggered 19x9-inch front and 19x9.5-inch rear wheels. This is on top of the CS's blacked-out grille, side racing stripes, and rear fender scoop. In addition to Oxford White, Ford will offer the 2022 Mustang California Special in Grabber Blue Metallic, Iconic Silver, Carbonized Gray, Atlas Blue, Dark Matter, Cyber Orange, Shadow Black, and Rapid Red.

Both new Mustangs will hit dealerships in the first quarter of 2022. Ford says the S550's construction has surpassed its boundaries, thus a Shelby GT500 Convertible is out. So, the Blue Oval can be now entirely focused on the next-generation vehicle, which is expected to come in 2023, with a fully electric Mustang sports car following in December 2028.
