2022 BMW X5 Black Vermilion Premiered With A Red Grille And Tons Of Accessories

BMW X5, which has been a huge commercial success since its launch in 1999, is getting a scary special edition in Europe and the United States to further improve the luxury SUV's attractiveness. While the pics show the hot M50i destined for Europe, North America will receive the xDrive40i version, which will be limited to 350 vehicles.

So, what makes the new Black Vermilion so special? Apart from the kidney grille's evident red vertical bars, the midsize premium SUV is finished in a superb Frozen Black Metallic paint from the BMW Individual collection. The dark gray 22-inch wheels with a matte finish maintain the black theme on the grille's shape.

The brake calipers are finished in red and are part of a larger package of M goods that includes an M Sport Package, adaptive M suspension, and an M Sport exhaust. The latter, however, is only available on the Euro-spec M50i, while the US-spec xDrive40i lacks this option. BMW also throws in its adjustable full-LED headlights with laser technology to sweeten the deal.

The Black Vermilion special edition adds a heated steering wheel, head-up display, remote engine start, and a Harman Kardon audio system to the X5's standard equipment list on the inside. The limited-edition SUV also includes an M-branded Alcantara headliner, as well as a glass gear lever and start button. The leather dashboard and carbon fiber inside trim, which are not available on the xDrive40i, give the Euro model a more upmarket appearance.

The interior and exterior of all automobiles will be mostly black, with contrasting red highlights and an "Edition" inscription on the cupholder cover. It'll run you back $82,300 (plus $995 destination), which is nearly $20,000 more than the regular xDrive40i. This amount of money, on the other hand, will get you the more powerful M50i, which is accessible in the US for only $500 more than this special edition.

Those interested in driving the X5 Black Vermilion should know that production for the US-spec special edition will begin in September and end in December at BMW's Spartanburg plant.
