Following the success of the 2 Series Active Tourer, BMW has approved the second generation of its tiny minivan, dubbed MPV for Multi-Purpose Vehicles. With a radical new look that, like many other BMWs these days, 2022 BMW 2 Series Active Tourer is certain to generate debate when it is unveiled in Europe next February.

Those huge double kidney grilles are the topic at hand. It has slimmer LED headlamps and vertical air curtains. With its streamlined exterior and rakish windscreen, 2022 BMW 2 Series Active Tourer represents a step backward. A new greenhouse and smaller rear pillars were also included.

Luxury Line and M Sport trim levels will be available, with the latter having more sporty bumpers. The interior, with superior materials and an innovative design, should be less contentious. The new BMW Curved Display, which also appears on the electric iX, is the main attraction here.

It will feature 10. 25-inch digital instrument cluster; 10.7-inch infotainment system with integrated GPS technology and upgraded Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity. A 5G-capable infotainment program operates on BMW OS 8. In the 2022 BMW 2 Series Active Tourer, the back seats may move 5.1 inches (130 mm).

This means greater space in the boot and more room behind the rear seats. If that's not enough, the seats can be placed horizontally to add 51.4 cubic feet of space (1,455 liters). For the 218i, there is a 134-hp (100 kW/136 PS) turbocharged 1.5-liter three-cylinder engine with 170 lb-ft (230 Nm). A 9.0 second 0-62-mph (0-100 km/h) time and a 133-mph (214 km/h) top speed are possible.

The 220i has 154-hp (115 kW) and 177 lb-ft (240 Nm) of torque. Faster 0-62 mph (0-100 km/h) time in 8.1 secs and a higher top speed of 137 mph (221 km/h) thanks to this upgrade! The 223i is also available. It boasts 201-hp (150 kW) and 236 lb-ft (320 Nm) of torque; it reaches 62 mph (100 km/h) in 7.0 seconds and max speed of 150 mph (241 km/h).

Finally, the 218d is equipped with a 2.0-liter turbodiesel four-cylinder engine that produces 148-hp (110 kW / 150 PS) and torque of 266 lb-ft (360 Nm). It allows the model to accelerate from 0 to 62 mph (0 to 100 km/h) in 8.8 seconds and reach a top speed of 137 mph (220 km/h). All of the powerplants are mated to a seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox, but the 220i and 223i gearboxes are unique in that they include an electric engine.

This can provide a 19-hp (14 kW / 19 PS) power boost. BMW will introduce two plug-in hybrid variants next summer, expanding its drivetrain lineup. Both will be powered by a 1.5-liter three-cylinder engine driving the front wheels and an electric motor driving the back wheels. They'll have a combined output of 242-hp (180 kW / 245 PS) and 322-hp (240 kW / 326 PS) as a result of this. More interestingly, the models will have larger 14.9 kWh batteries, allowing for WLTP-certified electric-only ranges of up to 50 miles (80 km).
