The sixth-generation off-roader 2021 Subaru Outback 4x4 will reach the European market next month. A new boxer engine, technical and safety upgrades are in order for fun driving and above-average resilience.

US models are powered by a 2.4-liter naturally aspirated four-cylinder boxer engine are the most attractive tech specs for this car. Usually, the  2.4-liter engine makes Subaru Outback deliver a 180 bhp, while the upgraded one, in the US, delivers at least 256 bhp. There's no official confirmation on the Europen Subaru Outback's ratings, so we can still hope for more. It's confirmed that both engines will be powered through an eight-speed CVT gearbox.

Subaru wants to make the gearbox offer a retuned (aka upgraded) one, to deliver the same performance as the eight-speed conventional automatic, by using a lower-viscosity oil and the new hydraulics. The latter gives 22% less power loss the in their previous models.

Subaru Outback 4x4 is a concept that aims to be the durable off-roader with automaker's four-wheel-drive system as standard, with upgraded active torque vectoring and hill descent control systems. Along with all these features comes the improved ground clearance over the previous generation. Built on the latest version of the Subaru Global Platform, the 2021 Subaru Outback is 70% stiffer in torsional and front suspension rigidity has a reduced by 50% body roll and improved straight-line stability and more responsive steering.

No details were revealed about the 2021 Subaru Outback's price and other specifications, but it should cost over the current $46,655 Outback. Customers are also expecting a premium version. The automaker promised to reveal more details closer to the on-sale date.
