After the successful registration of the hydrogen vehicles in Australia last month, Hyundai made another step to the Australian market with the facelifted 2021 Hyundai Kona Electric just a few months after launching in other markets around the world.

The Kona Electric will be available in two variants - the Down Under the Elite and the flagship Highlander. Both EVs feature the same mechanical components. A 64 kWh battery pack coupled to a single electric motor delivering 201 horsepower and 395 Newton-meter of torque, and a range of 300 miles (484 km) on the WLTP cycle.

Also, both variants feature the same suite of safety systems. Some of them include Lane Keeping Assist, Lane Following Assist, Blind-Spot Collision-Avoidance Assist, Rear Cross-Traffic Collision-Avoidance Assist, Safe Exit Warning, and a Rear Occupant Alert.

The interior for the Aussie-spec 2021 Kona Electric models comes as a standard with an eight-speed Harman Kardon premium audio system, a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, wireless charging, rearview monitor, and remote start. Highlander's upgrades bring a glass sunroof, heated steering wheel, heated front, and rear outboard seats, ventilated front seats, ambient lighting, power driver’s and passengers’ seats, an electro-chromatic rear-view mirror, and a Head-Up display.

The Highlander also includes LED taillights, High Beam Assist, and a front park assist system, while customers can opt for a Phantom Black roof at no extra charge. The cost for these extravagant features balance between AU$66,000 (US$50,460). Other Kona Electric Elite and Highlander exquisite options available for the Australian customers are premium paint for AU$595 (US$454) and a black/grey interior for AU$295 (US$224). Meantime, Australians will pay for the 2021 Hyundai Kona Electric Elite at least AU$62,000 (US$47,402).
