$2 Million Star: GM's 1957 Corvette Super Sport Concept

It was a red Corvette with a hydraulic soft top when it left the factory in 1956. Chevrolet, on the other hand, chose it out of the crowd and transformed it into a unique display car showcasing the Rochester Ramjet fuel-injection system, which was the company's newest technological advancement.

Before the car could embark on the exhibition tour, they understood they had to do more than just install a flashy new motor. So they gave it a unique pearly white paint job, a blue stripe to honor the Sebring racing cars, and some aerospace-inspired plexiglass bubbles making it particularly amazing.

The 1957 Chevrolet Corvette Super Sport was the name given to their masterpiece. The automobile was sold to Shurley Wilsie, a partner in Wilsie-Kelley Chevrolet in Caro, Michigan when it completed its tour of America. It was sold to a private customer in Albuquerque in the 1960s after being transported around various dealerships Sadly, it got involved in street racing and crashed there.

The automobile was purchased and sold for years but never repaired until 1997, when it finally received the attention it needed. Despite the accident, the Corvette Super Sport kept all of the original GM Styling elements from 1957, and the powertrain had only traveled 4,372 miles.

That means the motor still has its genuine 4360 first-design fuel injector, double spider fuel delivery lines, and one-piece louvered chrome air filter, and also the trunk still contains the classic blue carpeting, lug wrench, spare tire, and other items.

The Corvette Super Sport was fully repaired and returned to display form, earning the prestigious Heritage Award from the National Corvette Restorers Society and also the Presentation of Significant Cars Award at the 2017 Amelia Island Concours. The owner is currently selling it at Mecum's Kissimmee 2022 auction. It is anticipated that it might sell for up to $2 million due to its rarity and multiple prizes.
