Tesla To Only Launch A Small Number Of Cybertrucks

Elon Musk publicly announced that he intended to ramp up production to 250,000 Tesla Cybertrucks by 2025. The vehicle debuted in extremely limited numbers. In order to sustain higher margins and demand over a longer time frame, some industry forecasters speculate that Tesla may purposefully plan for a gradual increase in production, akin to Apple's approach with the iPhone X.

The Cybertruck is comparable to the iPhone X, which was an exclusive release with an unexpectedly high price and restricted supply.

Tesla's approach is similar to that of Apple and Ferrari, where exclusivity is purposefully preserved by limiting production quantities, according to Business Insider.

Forecasters expect the number of units produced by the electric pickup to vary. Analysts predict that there will be an average of approximately 48,000 units in the next year; estimates for 2025 range from 78,000 units to as much as 230,000 units.

Even if production picks up speed quickly, the Cybertruck has reportedly received over a million reservations from Tesla, which suggests that there may be ongoing high demand.
