Nikola Is Recalling 93 Units Of The Tre BEV

NHTSA has recently issued a recall notice for Nikola's all-electric Tre BEV truck. The manufacturer has disclosed that certain Tre BEV vehicles may have an incorrectly fitted seat belt shoulder anchorage assembly, which might cause the seat belt to become dislodged if weight is applied to the component.

On July 18, 2022, during a pre-delivery check at the dealership, a Nikola employee saw something that may be a problem. The worker checked the passenger side seat belt and discovered that the shoulder anchorage had come loose from the B-pillar.

This recall notice was issued only days after Nikola presented its Tre BEV and FCEV for the European market at the IAA Transportation Show in Germany. When it comes to range, the European version of the Tre BEV can cover 329 miles on a single charge.

The cab's manufacturer, Iveco, has been notified of the problem. In the course of their examination, Iveco found that the final torque on the passenger seat belt shoulder anchorage was not placed to specification, leaving it vulnerable to cross threading. Nikola has chosen to issue a recall even though the company has not received any allegations from customers or warranty claims related to the problem.

There were 93 Nikola Tres produced between November 5, 2021, and June 30, 2022, and all of them have been recalled. Between October 1 and November 1, 2022, Nikola will notify dealers and owners about the recall. Nikola will repair the bolt and spacer in the seat belt anchorage assembly and adjuster at no cost to the customer if they take their vehicle to an authorized dealer.
