Mustang Mach-E Goes Racing: Ford Teases EV Prototype For NASCAR

Ford's all about racing, and they're not just looking to crush it at Le Mans in 2027. They’ve also got their eyes on NASCAR, dropping a brand-new Mustang Mach-E prototype designed for the track.

This Mach-E is not your typical family crossover. It’s low, sleek, and more like a hot hatch. Ford’s throwing in components from the current Cup Series cars—things like the suspension, steering, brakes, and wheels—plus a full carbon-fiber tub to keep it light.

Specs? Not fully revealed, but Ford did mention the EV has three motors and a 78-kWh battery, mirroring the setup of the ABB NASCAR EV prototype unveiled last year, which packs a serious punch with 1,341 horsepower. This Mach-E has that same crossover shape, but with a whole lot more muscle under the hood.

Ford has been consistently producing innovative electric vehicle prototypes, such as the 1,400-horsepower SuperVan 4.2 and the SuperTruck. The SuperVan achieved a Pikes Peak record a few years ago, and we anticipate the NASCAR Mach-E to be a formidable competitor.

If that wasn’t enough, Ford teased another Mach-E prototype, and it’s headed to Pikes Peak. Romain Dumas will be behind the wheel, and you can bet it’ll have a massive wing and aggressive aero to crank up the downforce.
